Itinerary

Friday, April 16
Depart Cedar Knolls this morning and start your exciting journey as you head south. Upon arrival in Washington, DC, visit the new World War II Memorial. Take a leisurely stroll around this impressive monument dedicated to the “greatest generation.” Then visit the FDR Memorial located along the Tidal Basin. Although the Cherry Blossom Festival is over, some of the trees may still be in bloom. This afternoon, check into the Holiday Inn Alexandria for a 2-night stay. This evening, take a tour of historic Alexandria and see the homes of George Washington and Robert E. Lee. After seeing the highlights of the city, there will be time to explore the quaint shops of Old Town and have dinner. 

Saturday, April 17
After an included breakfast, continue on your city tour of Washington, DC, visiting the Korean War Memorial and Vietnam Veterans Memorial. See the White House and the Capitol Building as well as the Jefferson Memorial. Then you will have time to explore one of the Smithsonian Museums, before returning to your hotel. This evening, a night tour will focus on the monuments and memorials of the city, illuminated in all their grandeur. Stop at the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts, the Lincoln Memorial and see the Capitol Building and Washington Monument. This is indeed one of the highlights of the trip.

Sunday, April 18
After a leisurely morning, visit the Botanical Gardens. See more than 4000 plants and living specimens as well as a Butterfly Garden, Rose Garden and First Ladies Water Garden. Then head home to New Jersey arriving about 5:30 pm. 

A note about meals on this trip
Breakfast is included each morning. Each evening you will be brought to an area that has a wide selection of restaurants to choose from. You will be given time to enjoy a meal that suits your needs and budget before returning to the hotel. Friday evening you may dine in Old Town Alexandria and Saturday will be at Union Station. Each area has more than 20 restaurants in a small area.

Mass
Before departing for dinner and sightseeing on Saturday evening, transportation will be provided for anyone that wishes to attend Mass at St. Mary’s.
 

CONDITIONS

A deposit of $100.00 per person ($139.00 with insurance) along with the completed application is due as soon as possible. Make checks payable to Long’s Travel.
The final payment is due no later than February 12, 2010. 

*This is the discounted price for payment by check. The cost for payment by other means is $364.00 double occupancy, $467.00 single.

 

CANCELLATIONS

The following fees will apply per person for tour cancellations: 
(These fees are waived if purchasing insurance and you have to cancel for a covered reason.)
There will be no refunds after February 12, 2010.

 

INSURANCE

Cancellation/trip interruption insurance is available and highly recommended. Please add $39.00 per person to your deposit.
