Itinerary Monday, May 3 Start out this morning from Cedar Knolls or Livingston as you head south to Cape May. Board your ferry for a relaxing and scenic 70 minute crossing of Delaware Bay. Then it’s on to Ocean City for your 2-night stay at the Holiday Inn Hotel & Suites, located on the boardwalk. Tonight dine at a local popular restaurant overlooking the water.
Tuesday, May 4 After an included breakfast, depart on a tour to Assateague Island, home to the wild ponies. Legend has it that these ponies are descended from the ponies that swam ashore from a Spanish ship that had run aground in the 1600’s. This afternoon you will visit the town of Berlin, made famous by the movie “Runaway Bride”. Return to your hotel where you are free to relax, explore the shops or take a stroll along the boardwalk.
Wednesday, May 5 Following breakfast, travel to St. Michael’s, a quaint little town that is a haven for boaters. Visit the Chesapeake Bay Maritime Museum, which is dedicated to furthering an appreciation for the culture and maritime heritage of the Chesapeake Bay. This afternoon, depart for Annapolis and your overnight hotel, Loews Annapolis Hotel. Dinner is included this evening.
Thursday, May 6 After your included breakfast, a city tour of Annapolis will feature the grounds of the Naval Academy, the site of the crypt of John Paul Jones (if open), the State House, and St. Anne’s Church as well as other sites in this historic city. After free time to explore the waterfront and lunch on your own depart for home with great memories of your trip along the Eastern Shore.
Photo ID is required for entry into the Naval Academy.
There will be walking involved on the Annapolis city tour.
